Choosing a Copywriter

When you decide to go down the road of working with a copywriter, there lies one big task ahead of you: finding the right copywriter to work with.  Long gone are the days when copywriting existed purely for advertising agencies and big corporations.  Copywriting has come a long way since then, and now you will find an abundance of copywriters out there who work for smaller businesses as well.

As you know, I’ve been in the copywriting business now since 2003 both as a freelancer and as a company owner and I have worked with many clients – large and small.  I have heard stories from clients who have had bad experiences with less than credible writers who have been more than happy to charge an absolute fortune, and pretty much deliver nothing.

With my clients, I write sales copy at a fixed price.  I will determine exactly what it is my clients require and come up with a flat project rate that covers everything.  I like to work with my clients from start to beyond the finish.  What that means is I stay in touch with my clients long after the copy has been written, to keep track of how the copy is working for them.

I’m also happy for them to call on me with any questions they may have after the project has been completed – regarding copywriting, marketing and selling.  It’s all about personal service and going that extra mile to ensure my clients are happy and succeeding.  After all, their success is my success too.

In choosing your copywriter, ensure they:

  • Have real life copywriting experience
  • Have copywriting samples to show you of work they have done for past clients
  • Have a passion for writing sales copy that sells
  • Have a real and genuine interest in what you sell
  • Are available long after the project date to be kept up-to-date with your progress
  • Can deliver all of the above for the right price

Whatever you do, don’t settle for the copywriter who is the cheapest.  You after all will get what you pay for, and real, quality service will come with a price.  It doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll break the bank in the process of paying for it, but you will get the service and professional copywriting assistance you need to maximize your chances of success.
